The goal of the ACLS course is to improve outcomes for adult patients of cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies through early recognition and interventions by high performance teams.
This course is considered to be blended learning where the student has completed the classroom portion of the course and is prepared to demonstrate competencies (skills) to the instructor. There is practice prior to any skills testing. Length of the course is dependent on student knowledge and ability to perform skills competently and WILL NOT last more than 4 hours unless the instructor deems it necessary.
The ACLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardio-pulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. Through didactic instruction and active participation in simulated cases, students will enhance their skills in the recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute arrhythmia, stroke and acute coronary systems (ACS).
Prior to Class
You must complete the online portion of the ACLS course, called HEARTCODE ACLS. Contact Rick at rlayng@sphealth.org for your keycode. Once completed, you must print out the "Course Completion Certificate" and bring that copy with you to class. The course completion certificate must be handed into the instructor!! You must also complete the pretest. To complete the necessary pre-course preparations you will need to go to www.heart.org/eccstudent and enter this code: “acls15”. Please be sure to bring your current AHA BLS card to class as well.
