Secondary Trauma is the emotional and physiological duress that results when an individual is exposed to the indirect trauma experiences of another. It is a natural, but disruptive, by-product of the helping profession. The most effective human services and healthcare workers are often those most deeply impacted because of the strength, depth and excellence of their work. Resiliency creates the potential to transform toxic distress into strength. The goal of resiliency practice is to create post-traumatic growth.
Andrew works within both an experiential and a content-driven training process. The content of the training is a cutting-edge integration of trauma theory, attachment theory, neurobiology, and embodiment work as it applies to the secondary trauma we are exposed to through work in human services.
The COVID-19 pandemic has fostered this opportunity for the Helena community to come together in posttraumatic growth rather than posttraumatic despair and toxicity. We invite you to be part of this process of growth personally, professionally and as a community.
